This is a very nice Priscacara liops from the Eocene of Wyoming. This "sunfish type" is one of the most sought-after fish from the Green River Formation. This specimen is from the "18 inch layer" and is beautifully preserved. The bone structure is well defined and the fins are wonderfully exhibited. The sharp spines of the dorsal fin are all intact. The eye socket is easily seen and the open mouth of the fish makes for a striking display. The fossil has outstanding color and contrast. It is nicely presented on the somewhat oval plate of matrix. This is a very fine specimen of Priscacara liops.
