This is an outstanding display specimen of Populus wilmattae, a poplar, from the Eocene of Utah. The leaf, itself, is HUGE measuring 4.0" X 4.0". The long, complete petiole measures another 3.5 inches. The venation of the leaf is quite evident. The crenate margins are well displayed. The specimen has great color and good contrast. It is well centered on a large, somewhat rectangular, plate of matrix. This is a spectacular specimen of Populus from the Green River Formation.
