Here is a beautiful plate of fossil fish from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. There are two different types of fish on the plate. The fish in the upper left corner is a great example of Knightis humilis. The other three fish are superb specimens of Diplomystus dentatus. The highly detailed fossil fish exhibit great bone structure. The eye sockets are easily seen. The fins and gill covers are wonderfully displayed. The dark color of the fossils contrast nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fish are very aesthetically presented on the large plate of oil shale. This is a gorgeous plate of fossil fish from the Eocene.
