Name:   Diplomystus dentatus & Knightia humilis
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Kemmerer, Wyoming

This is a very aesthetic fossil fish plate from the Eocene of Wyoming. The fish at the top of the plate is Diplomystus dentatus. The fish at the bottom is an excellent specimen of Knightia humilis. Both fish appear to be "swimming" in the same direction and exhibit superb detail. The bone structure and fins are wonderfully displayed. The eye sockets are easily seen. The fossils have great, dark brown color and contrast nicely with the cream-colored matrix. They are well positioned on the rectangular plate of shale. This is an excellent specimen of two different fossil fish from the Green River Formation.
