This is a beautiful multiple specimen of Knightia humilis from the Eocene of Wyoming. Both specimens of this fossil herring are very nicely preserved. The fossil fish are complete and exhibit great detail. The eye sockets of the fish are easily seen. The bone structure and fins are wonderfully displayed. The two fish are lying next to each other and almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate of shale. The dark brown fossils contrast extremely well with the light tan matrix. This is a very pretty double specimen of Knightia humilis from the Green River Shale.
