Here is a very nice plate of two different leaves from the Eocene of Utah. The long, linear specimen is a beautiful willow, Salix cockerelli. This lanceolate leaf displays toothed margins and has an acuminate apex. The short, stout petiole is still attached. There is also an unusual oak leaf, Quercus cuneatus, on the slab. This leaf is complete and well detailed. The entire margins are intact and the venation is easily seen. The fossil plants have excellent color and contrast. They are very nicely positioned on the rectangular block of shale. This is a great plate of two different leaves from the Green River Shale.
