This is a very aesthetic fossil fish plate from the Eocene of Wyoming. The fish on the left is a very nice specimen of Knightia humilis. The fish on the right is an excellent specimen of Diplomystus dentatus. Both fish exhibit wonderful detail. The bone structure and fins are nicely displayed. The fossils have great color and contrast nicely with the cream-colored matrix. They are well positioned on the rectangular plate of shale. This is an excellent specimen of two different fossil fish from the Green River Formation.
