This is a beautiful specimen of Populus wilmattae, a poplar, from the Green River Shale. The leaf has very strongly defined venation. The attenuate tip of the leaf is very long and quite distinct. The leaf displays the crenate margins very nicely. An extremely long petiole is attached to the leaf. The leaf has good color and contrast. It is well positioned on a semi-rectangular block of matrix. This is a beautiful display specimen of a poplar leaf from the Eocene of Utah.
