This is a wonderful specimen of Allophylus flexifolia from the Eocene of Colorado. This leaf is complete and exhibits fine detail. The slightly undulating margins of the leaf are beautifully displayed, and the venation of the leaf is quite evident. A long petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The dark brown color of the leaf is totally natural and contrasts well with the khaki-colored matrix. It is almost perfectly centered on the plate of shale. This is a very aesthetic example of an Allophylus leaf from the Green River Formation of Colorado.
