Name:
Ursus speleaus Jaw
Age: Pleistocene
Formation: Cave Deposits
Location: Carpath Mountains, Romania
Size: Jaw is 5.5 inches across
This is a very nice cave bear jaw from the Pleistocene of Romania. Cave bear material is becoming harder to obtain as the cave deposits have been heavily collected. Two excellent teeth are retained in the jawbone. The jaw was from an adult bear - the large teeth have excellent enamel and exhibit very little wear. The jawbone is also in nice condition. This is a very fine display specimen of a large cave bear jaw with teeth.
