EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Huge Cambrian Stromatolite
Stock Number  XISTR123
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Cambrian Stromatolite
Age:  Lower Cambrian
Formation:  Chambless Limestone
Location:  Marble Mountains, California
Size:  Stromatolite is 7.5 inches tall

This is a very distinct stromatolite specimen from the Lower Cambrian of California. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae, or ''cyanobacteria''. This large, colorful slab has been highly polished on one side for optimal display. The unique pattern of the stromatolites is beautifully showcased, and the different colors of the mineral replacement are quite striking. This is a very fine example of this unusual stromatolite from the Marble Mountains of California.
